About Me

Professional Experience

I grew up in Mill Valley, California and currently live in Oakland. I have worked with children since 2004 and have worked in special education since 2006. I have experience in San Francisco, Daly City, and Oakland public schools as a paraprofessional (four years), special education teacher (10 years), and special education instructional coach (two years). I have been working in my current role as an Education Consultant since the fall of 2022.

While the majority of my teaching experience was in middle schools working with students with mild to moderate disabilities, I also have experience working in elementary and high schools, as well as with students in general education and students with extensive disabilities. I have expertise working with students with unique social-emotional and behavioral needs, executive function challenges, and autism, in addition to students with other learning differences. I currently work with families of students from TK to 12th grade with and without 504 Plans and IEPs.

Some of my work outside of the classroom has included serving on several school and district committees, including the: Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) team; Culturally Responsive Task Force; Instructional Leadership Team; Union Executive Board; and COVID Safety Bargaining Team.

Education

I received my Bachelor's degree in psychology from New York University in 2004 and earned my special education teaching credential and Master's degree from San Francisco State University in 2010/11. Additionally, I earned an advanced certificate in anti-racist education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2021.
